Elizabeth Man (1634 – 1668)

Elizabeth Man was born in 1634, the daughter of Jonas and Elizabeth (Costerd) Man, and was baptized on 7 September 1634 at St. Mary the Virgin’s, Hambleden. She married Thomas Ilbury in 1650.  She died in 1668 and was buried on 23 June 1668 at St. Mary the Virgin’s, Hambleden. Thomas Ilbury was born abt. 1630 in Oxfordshire, the son of her Henry Ilbury and Joane Hedidge.

After Elizabeth’s death Thomas may have remarried – Sarah Unknown – as there are two burials recorded at St Michael, Blewbury, Berkshire on 6 December 1680 for Sarah Illburie and on 25 January 1681 for Thomas Illburie also at Blewbury.

Elizabeth and Thomas belong to Man Generation Two; their children belong to Man Generation Three and are:

  1. THOMAS
  2. JOHN
  3. HENRY
  4. HENRY
  5. MARY
  6. JOHN

NOTES: A marriage for a Henry Ilbury and a Joane Hedidge on 07 Nov 1625 at Bradfield, Berks has been found.  Since Bradfield is about three miles from Whitchurch, Oxon, where Henry was probably born; the time is right; and the name is the same as that of Henry’s mother – Joane (not Jane) – this marriage is probably of Henry’s parents.
