Transcript of the Will of James Balchen, 1749
In the Name of God Amen -
I
James Balchen of the Parish of Saint Swithin London Stone in the City of London
do make this my last Will and Testament as follows, that is to say, I give and
bequeath all my Moneys, Goods, Effects and Estates whatsoever and wheresoever
after the payment of my Debts and ffuneral Charges and Expenses unto my dear and
loving Mother Martha Balchen to and for her own use and benefit and do hereby
revoke all former Wills by me and do declare this my only last Will and
Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this tenth
day of ffebruary 1749

Signed Published and Declared by the said James Balchen as and for his last Will
in the presence of Us who have Subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto in the
presence of Mary Balchen Elizabeth Phillips.
On
the twentieth day of March in
the Year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty nine Administration
(with the Will annexed) of the Goods Chattels and Credits of James Balchen late
of the Parish of Saint Swithin London, Batchelor deceased was granted to Martha
Balchen Widow The natural and lawfull Mother of the said deceased and Universal
Legatee named in the said Will (for that no Executor is named therein) being
first Sworn only to Administrator. /.
