The Pennington family appears here because of its connection to the
Harris family which in turn connects to the Man family through the
marriage of Edward Desborough Man to
Louisa Mary Harris. Louisa's aunt, Marry Anne Harris, married James
Pennington on November 23 1811 at Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common. James Pennington was born 23 February 1777 in Kendal, Westmorland, and
died 23 March 1862 in Clapham. Mary was born 11 November 1786 in St. Margaret, Westminster, and died
on March 1865 in
Clapham.
James was an economist of some renown and summaries of his life and work can be
found
here. Likewise his son Arthur Robert (pictured right) was a clergyman and
historian who wrote a number of books on church history. More about
these can be read here.
