Stephen Phillip Barton Durnford was born on 20 November 1943, the son of Catherine Mary Felicity Man and Stephen Barton Durnford. He married Zuzana Knourek on 27 August 1965. Zuzana was born on 10 September 1945 in Essex. Stephen and Zurzana divorced and he then married Mrs. Sandra Capildeo, née Melough on 31 August 2006 at Brighton Registry Office. Sandra was born on 27 April 1945. Stephen and Zuzana belong to Generation Eight;

Note: Zuzana's father fought with the free French during World War II and won the Croix de Guerre fighting in Italy. Katherine and Philip are twins.
