A piece of Man family trivia - the connection between the Man family and the Washingtons of Virginia. On the 25 August 1874 James Henry Man married Sarah Huntley. Sarah's father was George Maxwell Huntley whose sister Mary Anne Huntley married Thomas Hodgson on 07 July 1841. Thomas's father was John Hodgson and John's father was another John Hodgson who married Anne Appleby. Annes' aunt was Dorothy Dacre Appleby who married George Carlyle on 03 Sep 1751. George's brother John Carlyle emigrated to America and settled in Virginia. In 1748 he married Sarah Fairfax whose sister Anne married Laurence Washington the half brother of George Washington.
