Beatrice Crofts was the daughter of the Reverend John David MacBride Crofts of Branksome House, St. Leonards-on-Sea.  She married Edward James Fowle Garnet Man on 10 September 1902.

She is pictured below with her two eldest children. Written on the back of the original is the following: 'Lionel Garnet Man 4 years & 10 months, John Henry Garnet Man 1 year and 8 months, and their "poor dear mammie", May 1908'.
